Watching "Make 'Em Laugh: Funny Business" on my local (cable) PBS station WCVW, a very funny show about the history of TV comedy. I heard a very new thing to me, the origins of the the word "Nerd"... They claim that it was from the 1950 Dr. Seuss's If I Ran The Zoo.
Now as I searched the webber net to verify this and I found all sorts of things, like "nerd" comes from "knurd", drunk backwards but let's assume PBS knows best... oh yea their story lined up with the likes of The American Heritage Dictionary.
Thanks Theodor Geisel. Nerds... lets all read some Dr. Seuss!!!
Does this make you feel better or worse about that one time you were called a nerd?
